Lamar Abu Dabe (alterntively spelled Abu-Dabe or Abudabe) is a seventh-grade student who attends Hazelnut Middle School and a minor character in Pepper Ann. He is friendly with the main characters and is in a number of the same classes.
Lamar is very tall and slender. He has a shaved head and wears glasses and a basketball jersey. He appears often as a background character, but has a more prominent role in several episodes as well. In "Miss Moose," he mistakes Moose Pearson for a boy and assumes she is Pepper Ann's younger brother. This is after Stewart Walldinger made the same mistake, prompting Pepper Ann to try to "feminize" Moose.
In "Portrait Of The Artist As A Young Milo," Lamar is chosen to be a student judge of the Dental Hygeine-A-Palooza Poster Contest due to his perfect, cavity-free dental record, along with Pepper Ann and Constance Goldman.
Later on, in the episode "Considering Constance," we learn that Constance has long had a crush on Lamar, but has been too shy to say anything about it. Part of her episode-long quest to learn to be as cool as Pepper Ann involves Pepper Ann coming up with a "secret admirer scheme" for her to leave flowers in Lamar's locker, without indicating who they're from. Pepper Ann was considering doing the same with her longtime crush, Craig Bean, but Constance instead chooses to talk to Lamar and give him the flowers in person. After that, the two are seen hanging out and presumably dating.
Lamar's last name is pronounced identically to Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, although it is spelled differently. This, combined with the fact that Lamar opts to play the part of Ramadan in the holiday pageant in the episode "A Kosher Christmas," seems to indicate that he is possibly Muslim, although this is not explicitly stated.
